Steam turbine system for municipal utilities

Antrok is supporting Städtische Werke Energie + Wärme GmbH in the construction of a new steam turbine plant at the Kassel power plant site. The district heating power plant, which was commissioned in 1988, reliably supplies the city of Kassel with electricity and district heating. In the course of the coal phase-out, the power plant is gradually being converted from coal-based energy generation to the sustainable use of sewage sludge and waste wood in order to promote the climate neutrality of the city of Kassel.

Antrok has already been a reliable partner of Städtische Werke Energie + Wärme GmbH in the past and supported the construction of a sewage sludge reception and drying plant as part of the coal phase-out.

The new extraction condensing steam turbine has a flexible design and can be operated both for pure electricity generation and for combined electricity and district heating generation. With a maximum electrical output of around 22 MW and a maximum thermal output of 47 MW for the district heating network, the plant makes an important contribution to the city's energy supply.

Antrok is responsible for the planning and pipeline construction to integrate the new steam turbine into the existing infrastructure. The pipelines are designed for different media such as live steam (503 °C at 73 bar), bleed steam, extraction steam, district heating, condensate, cooling water and compressed air. With these services, Antrok is making a significant contribution to the successful implementation of the project and supporting the sustainable energy supply of the city of Kassel.
